New Yobk, May 18 Intelligence has been received that seven policemen were killed during a riot iv Managra, the capital of Nicaragua, Central America. The authorities took extreme steps to restore order, and iv arresting six of the leaders who had been directing the mobs, ordered them to shoot at once. Congress has approved of the liability of the mine-owners to pay compensation in case of accidents in mines. British owners are opposed to the proposal. Beblin, May 18. The Miners' Congress has approved of the legal eight hours' work in mines. The Northumberland and Durham miners alone opposed the proposal, and denounced the English Premier's and Home Secretary's stupid advocacy ot the Eight Hours Bill. Washington, May 18 The Senate has decided to appoint a Committee to inquire into the alleged bribery in connection with the Tariff Bill. In tbe House of Representatives, Mr Bryan, member for Nebraska, has intro duced a Bill giving the Government authority to complete the construction of the Nicaragua Canal. Pahis, May 18.
