Stock and Produce Markets.
A. G, Tame and Co. report as follows of the stock, wool and produce market for the week ending May 18th : — Fat sheep — We have held no public sales, and private business has been restricted to the sale of good meaty wethers at lis 9d ; fat ewes, good weights, 9s to 9s 6d ; we quote good heavy fat wethers at 12s to 123 6d, and medium lis to lis 3d, and a good demand ; fat ewes, except guaranteed not in lamb, slower sale. Store sheep — Good forward wethers, tresh, are from 9s to 9s 6d, and up to 10s had been paid for a really good lot, well woolled and very forward. Lambs are now in fairly good demand, and saleable at 6s to 6s 6d for good, 5s to 5s Gd for medium. Ewes in lamb, young and in good condition, are selling up to 9s ; full-mouthed ewes, 6s to 7s, if good mouth a»d in good condition, with a demand for more. At these prices business can be done. Fat cattle — Good beef is saleable up to 18s Gd for best bullocks ; cows at lower rates. For store cattle, sellers' prices are too extreme to do business. Pigs — Good porkers, 25s to 33s ; baconers, 425; slip*, 10s to 12s 6d. Horses — j We held our weekly horse sale iv our yards on Saturday. We sold young harness horses from £10 to £14, aged sorts £Q to £8, and inferior hacks £4 to £6. Good heavy draughts are quoted at from £18 to £25, medium £12 to £15. There is a good demand for horses for tramway and express work, young and well broken. Sheepskins — At our weekly sale on Monday, country butchers' skins were at 2s 6d ; dry skins, 2s ; pelts, ls 6d to ls 8d and ls lOd ; inferior pelts, Gd to ls Id ; good butchers' skins, 2s lOd to 3s ; dry well-woolled skins, 3£d to ljd per lb Hides— Good bullocks, 12s 6d"to 15s, well flayed ; cow hides, 7s 6d to 9a. Tallow and Fat — Good demand ; prices slightly easier in sympathy with the Home market. Good rendered tallow, 17s 6d to 19d ; medium to good, 15s to 16s ; best caul fat, 12s 6d to 18s Quotations are nominal ; £13 10s to £14 for best, and £10 to £12 for medium. Wheat — No business except in fowl wheat ; price about 2s 6d, Oats— Good feed, ls 8d to ls 9d ; best, Is lOd to ls lid ; chaff, £3 10s to £3 158 for the best ; ordinary, 655. Potatoes are quoted at from 55s to 60s per i;on, plenty ofleriug.
