A Strange Suicide.

[PEB PBESB ASSOCIATION.! New Pltmouth. May 12. At tbe inquest held this afternoon on the body of Charles Francis, found drowned in the lake in the Recreation Grounds, a letter was read which had been sent to the Wanganui Herald by deceased, intimating that he intended to commit suicide, and stating " I take this course to save my fellows from starving. I cannot expect the order to outstep its constitutional proctice on my behalf; I cannot carry out my desire without death. Therefore, I willingly give way." The jury returned an open verdict.
