PALMERSTON HALF HOLIDAY V. RED STARS.
At the conclusion of the association game yesterday afternoon a Rugby match was played between the Palmersron North Half- holiday team and the Red Star Football Club. The visitors kicked off and within a few minutes from the commencement of the game Richards and A. Foster each had a shot tit goal, but without success. Jack Robinson received a pass from Markharn and scored a try, but F. Foster's attempt to increase tho score was unsuccessful. From the kick out Isherwood made a good run ihen passed to Pallaut, whose kick was returned to touch by A. Foster. f*hortly after Matthews made a good run but was stopped by Mines and the visiting forwards following up fast, Macfurlane had his work cut out to stop a score and Feilding were forced down. Moppy secured a mark near tho goal lino and W. North sue ceeded in plneiDg the ball over the bar. Shortly afrer resuming play the visitors wero chasing JRobiuaou and Richards, tho latter getting to within a few yards of the goal line when he lost the ball. From a scrum nearly opposite the visitors' goal A. Foster scored a try but Richards failed to increase the score On changing sides Richards lost another chance through losing the ball and Robinson made a good attempt to pot a goal From loose play F. Foster picked up the ball and scured another try for Feild ing. lie took the kick at gu»l him welt and succeeded in putting it over the bar. Shortly af lei wads W Su>itb j:ot hold of the ball and scured a try F. Foster succeeded in kiekiug a gaol. Afier a long run Richards agaiu soured f<>? Feilding, from which F. Fo-ter kuk'd a goal. From touch Jido pay Richards ran to within a few yaius of his oppoi.ents' goal line, where A Foster picked up the ball aud scored the sixth try for Feilding, F. Foster putting another goal to his credit. At the close of the gamo the score stood : Red Stais 24 points, Half-holiday team 4 points Mr R. S. Fowler gave satisfaction as referee.
The following team will represent Feilding in a friendly match with the Kea Kaka Football Club, at Pulmeiston, on aturday next: — Full-back, Broughton : three-quarters, Moore, Richards, Eobinson ; halves, A and R. Parr ; forwards, Matheson Matravers, Gieseu, Whisker (2), Brabant, I. Watts, Martini, Lawton, Johnston. The Feildiug team will leave Man Chester Square at 1 o'clock.
