Annual Election of School Committee.
MEETING OF HOUSEHOLDERS IN FEILDING. A meeting of householders in the Feilding State School district was held in the school house last evening, and although the weather was bad there was a good attendance. Mr W. Carth^w was voted to the chair. Mr F. Y. Lethbridge, chairman of the outgoing committee, reported that at the last election of the committee only nine persons attended and he wished to draw parents' attention to this lack of interest shown in school affairs. The Board had reduced the teaching staff, which tlie headmaster was not at prp.sent|satisficd with, and the committee endeavored to support the headteacher, but the Board did not give their, sufficient attention, consequently they were somewhat at loggerheads with the Board. The attendance of children at the school was very bad and son>e improvement should be effected to secure a better staff. The incoming committee would need to be very careful as the cleaning costs £28 a year and they only received £32 from the Board. They would have to increase the attendance if they wished to buy fuel. The receipts and expenditure for the past year were : — RECKIPTS.
