Tho f ct remains that Chomiswae adjudicator! guilty, bu-f tho clomency of ihe Crown was ex tended in giving him imprisonment for life in lieu of capital punishment. No circumstances hare arisen since the trial which would warrent the Government to recommend His Excellency to remit the sentence, and the amendment of the law as regards appoal was not retrospective. Under these circumstances Government can do nothing iv the matter."
