Wellington Land Board.
The regular meeting of the above was held yesterday. Present — The Commissioner (in the chair), and Messrs W. A. Fitzlierbert, T. W. Fisher, A. W. Hogg, M.H.R., and Fred. Pirani, M.H.R. The -following applications to capitalise were granted : — C Hunt, section 22, Block XIV, Pohangina ; R. Port, section 32, Block X, Pohangina. Applications for titles refused : — J. Oliphant, section 19, Block IX, Apiti ; A. Stuart, section 12, Block XII, Ongo. Applications for titles approved : — C Hunt, section 22, Block XIV, Pohan«ina ; D. Howie, section 124, Block XfV, Apiti ; C. Palmer, sections 1347 to 1350, Bunnythorpe; G. Palmer, sections 1341 to 1346, Buunythorpe. Transfers approved :— G. O. Gibbs to A. Cruden, section 20, Block IX, Apiti ; O. IP. and S. W. Carter to selves and E Ashly, section 3, Block XII, Apiti ; C T. Lloyd to J. Wilson, section 3, Block XII, Apiti ; H. B. Pemberton to R. J. Sewel', section 10, Block IV, Omahine ; C. E. Waldegrave to R. Burne, section 22, Block XIII Apiti. Mr Richmond appeared in reference to the transfer of section 12, Block XVI, Ongo, from the mortgagee (Mr E. H. Pearce, of England) to S. J. Carman ; the application for title to Mr Saxelby to be rescinded. He explained that if the title were issued in Mr Saxelby's name the land could not be transferred, as the latter was away in England. It was decided to obtain a legal opinion on the matter. Mr Munro, of Bulls, waited on the Board in reference to his application for an extra area of land adjoining his 150 acres in the Hautapu district — It was decided to consider Mr Munro's application when the land he asked for is open for sale. The applications for sections in the Momohaki Village Settleinentj were laid before the Board in accordance with section 60 of the Act. On the motion of Mr Fisher, it was resolved, That as under section 49 of the Land Act of 1892, the Land Board are the sole judges of the fulfilment of the conditions of leases and licenses, they deem it necessary that before approving of the applications for the Momohaki Village Settlement, it is i necessary that this Board should be advised under what particular section of the Land Act, 1892, this block was opened, as the letter of the Undersecretary of 22nd March does not give the information a3ked for, and therefore before approving of* the application the Commissioner of Crown Lands fix a date for a special meeting of the Board to interview the Minister of Lands on the subject. J. Rea applied to be allowed to transfer a section in the Salisbury Settlement, and it was decided to allow him to surrender, weighting the land with the value of the improvements. T. W, Lowe's application to purchase totara on Ferry reserve on Oroua river, near Apiti, was not acceded to, oa the ground that the timber was necessary for the bridge over the Oroua. Buck man's application for lease of gravel reserve at Apiti was granted ; rent to be fixed by the ranger. P. Nesdaite's applications for titles to sections 71 and 72, Apiti, were granted. Brebner, Pohangina, and Robson, Bunnythorpe, were granted time to effect the necessary improvements. — Standard.
