«. ABOLITION OF CORPORAL PUNISHMENT OF GIELS. Amongst the instructons to teachers by the Wellington Education Board is | the following : — Ourporal punishment ] shall not he inflicted except in extreme - cases, and only by the head teacher, ] or teacher in charge of the school ; > and the teacher must keep a record I in the school log hook of the time and , place at which pupils were corporally ; i chastised, the amount of such punish, j ment, and the nature of the offence. - The instrument to he used shall be a ' leather strap, commonly called tawse- , the end by which tho punishment is inflict- d shall be devided into no lens than five straps. Corporal punishment of girls is absolutely prohibited. '
