(PER PKESS ASSOCIATION.) London, March 17 The* wool stiles closed with spirited competition, and medium and good greasy were quoted at to £d above the opening rates. The total quantity ! catalogued was 188,400 bales, of which 113,000 were sold for export, and 63/200 for the Home trade. Tallow — Medium mutton, 25s ; beet, 245. The English wheat market is heavy and inactive, the Continental depressed, and the American betrays a general deline. An Australian March shipment sold at 25s 9d. Colonial butter is unchanged. The Rimuuika's cargo is realising 103s. The New Zealand Land Association has received the following cablegram from London: — Wool — The sales closed firmly to-day. Since the close of last sales washed and scoured merino, super, medium and inferior, and greasy merino lambs' medium and inferior, are Ad per lb lower ; while coarse greasy crossbred lias advanced Jd per lb. Other descriptions are unchanged. The total quantity sold during the past sale is 172,000 bales, of which 109,000 bales have been taken for the' Continent, and 1000 for America. It is estimated that 75,000 bales have been held over for future disposal. Frozen meats — Stocks light. Cauterbury and Wellington mutton are worth respectively 5d and 4sd per lb. Lamb — Market firm. Prime New Zealand lambs are worth per carcase 6sd per lb. New Siealamf hemp Market depressed. Medjiun is wortH £16 per ton. Tallow — There is Jitfclo demand. Fine mutton and good beef tallows are worth respectively *27s ad and 25s per cwt,
