Fire Brigade Competition.
[PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Napikb, March 9. The Fire Brigades' Demonstration was concluded to-day. Hose, Hydrant aud Union Competition (five men). Dunedin 1 Napier 2 Spit 3 Roslyn 4 Con Hose, Hydrant, and Union. Palmerston North 1 Wauganui 2 Gore 8 Christchurch 4 Napier won the Challenge Shield presented by Shand, Mason and Co. with the highest aggregate, 17 points, Christchurch being next with 13 points. The Association's shields for manual events was won by Christchurch for the second time, and it now becomes their property. Duuedin won most money, £60 ; Christchurch, £48 ; Timaru, i' 4 4; Napier, £'59 ; Gisborne, £28 ; Ashburtou, i:2l ; Palmerston, i'l7.
