V.R.C. MEETING. (PER PBEBS ASSOCIATION.) Melbourne, March 8. The Committee of the Victorian Racing Club decided this morning to send a letter of condolence to the widow of the jockey McGowau. At the inquest the coroner's jury returned a verdict of accidental death, exonerated all concerned from any suspicion of jostling or foul riding, adding a rider that the arrangements at the Flemington course are in no way defective. Mr A. S. Chirnside has withdrawn bis horses from all engagements at the meeting, having taken this step as a mark of respect to the jockey McGowan, who was killed when thrown from Linburn in the accident on Tuesday. The following are the results of the the third day's races : — Hurdles— Ebor 1, Bell 2, Manon 3. Nursery Handicap — Bradford 1, Carlton 2, Question 3. Autumn Handicap— Telluse 1, Megaphone 2, The Clown 3. Cliampion Stakes, 3 miles— Port-sea 1, Light Artillery 2, Patron 3. Time, 2 mm 2:trjSec. Gelding Handicap — Repudiation 1, Rudolph 2, Shamrock 3. Free Handicap— Foxtail 1, Salutation 2.
