ORCHARD THIETES. TO THB EDITOR OP THE STAR. Sir, — We are told that among the Egyptians on the night of the Passover there was not a house in which there was not one dead. It would appear that there is not an orchard in Feilding in wbich the destroying apple thief has not been at work. Now half a dozen constables would not suffice for the detection and arrest of the maurauders, let alone our one and very efficient police officer. I would suggest, therefore, the formation of a Vigilance Committee, who should patrol the district, on the quiet, and punish all whom they may catch on the spot by a vigorous application of Birch Rod. THE BEACONSFIELD ENTERTAINMENT. TO THE liDITOH OF THK STAR Sir, — Most of the residents of Beaconsfield and Waituna were under tlie impression that the bazaar and maj^ic lantern entertainment which was recently held in the Beaconsfield Church, was in aid of the funds of that church, and the report of the bazaar whicii appeared in the Star, from your Waituna correspondent, seems to confirm the above impression where your correspondent says the funds of the church were augmented. I beg to state that the funds of the above church were in no way benefitted by the bazaar and entertainment. By inserting this in your valuable columns you will greatly oblige. I am, etc., One of the Trustees. Beaconsfield, February lst, 1894.
