Stock Markets.
Messrs Lowes and lorns, Masterton, report: — Our sale on Wednesday was well attended. There was a good entry of useful cattle, a few lines of sheep, and a large number of horses. Cattle maintain their prices, with a fair demand for all good young sorts, but, as usual with a good market, vendors are apt to keep increasing the reserves beyond the purchasers' ability to secure a profitable turnover. The horses were an ordinary useful lot from the Porangahau district, and sold at what may be considered fair prices. We quote— Fat wethers, 9s to 10s ; store wethers, 7s to 8s 6d ; 2-tooth mixed sheep, very small, 6s 9d; old ewes, 4s 10d; shorn wether lambs, 4s lOd ; 2£-year old steers, 955 ; 20s to 24-months steers, 82s 6d; yearlings, mixed sexes, 47s 6d ; calves, 28s ; dairy cows, 80s to 100s ; store cows. 60s to 755.
