Lindus, a resident of Chelmsford, in Essex, who quarrelled with and shot his wife, and afterwards shot Jacobs, a London solicitor, left a letter in which he said he intended to commit suicide. He alleges that his wife was unfaithful, and had given away to drink, and that Jacobs had connived to defraud his children. Nkw Yobk, January 24. Fifty convicts escaped from the prison at Nashville, Tennessee, owing to the neglect of the warders. At Salta Mr Jabez Balfour has obtained a writ of habeas corpus from the Federal Court demanding the Argentine Government to iustify his arrest. A detective from Scotland "¥ard, with six warrants for BalfouVs arrest, has been sent from London.
