At first the batsmen went out quickly, chiefly uuder Gould and Miller's bowling. "When the score stood at 35 for four wickets, Bruce and Gore made a good stand, carrying it to 75. The innings closed for 112. Tho visitors then went in, and punished the local bowling severely, i having scored 60 when time was called without the loss of a wicket, Cowley having made 42 and Moore 12.
