Lyon's Operatic Company.

There was only a fair attendance at the Assembly Rooms last night, when " Faust up to Date" was performed by the above Company. The play seemed to take very well, and encores for various songs and dances were insisted on. The principal parts of the acting fall on Mr Percy Clifton, who takes the part of "Mephistopheles," and vividly portrays the cunning and deceit of the " old gentleman " ; Mr C. Brown, the gallant soldier ; Miss Addie Towers, as " Marguerite " ; and Miss Jessie Leon, who represents •« Fanst." The other characters are all well filled- As on tl.e previous evening, the singing and danring formed two features of the performance, and Miss Violet Bertram in her singing of "Old Madrid" created a very favorable impression ; in fact her rendenug of this song was even better than on the previous evening, when she gave " Magic Music." The graceful dancing of Miss Blanch Toung was much admired, and in the " Skirt Dance " she kept the audience almost spell-bound. Mr Percy Clifton's comic singing takes at once, and his re appearance was demanded on every occasion. In his comic song, " Behind Me," Mr C. Brown brought down the house, and he was applauded for his step- dancing. Mr H. D. Douglas makes a capital pianiate, and his playing contributed considerably towards the success of the performance.
