Manawatu County Council.
♦ The ordinary monthly meeting of the Manawatu County Council was held in the council offioe, Sanson, last Wednesday. Present — Councillors Ransom (chairman), Taylor^ Wilson, Masters, Robinson, Hammond, and Strong. From Treasury Office, repayment of £71 15s 7d into public account at the Bank of New Zealand, Foxton, being interest for half year on £2,871 2s lOd debt of Sanson Road Board, inscribed at the Treasury under Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886. From Arnold and Lasenby (Campbell town), G. A. Pike (Awahuri), A. S. Easter, J. W. Walsh, and J. Howard (Foxton), and W. Simpson (Oroua Bridge), applications for renewal of slaughtering licenses. From the Department of Justice re Alcoholic Liquors Sale Act, and stating that it is proposed to appoint the Horowhenua County Council to have authority in terms of the Act, through the Licensing District of Otaki. Proposed by Cr Taylor, seconded by Cr Hammond, "That renewals be granted for the year 1894 to W. K. Simpson, A. S. Easter, J. W. Walsh, T. H. Howan, E. H. Gowan, G. E. Pike, G. L. Blunden, and Arnold and Lasenby." — Carried. Proposed by Cr Ransom, seconded by Cr Wilson, " That the sum of £150 be advanced from the General Fund Account to the Canipbelltown, Waitohi and Sandon ridings, for the purpose of metalling Hammond's line and the Sanson-Halcombe road this year ; and that at the general meeting called for the purpose of apportioning the gross income of £75 per annum be allocated for two years to the Carnarvon, Kawa Kawa, Awahou, and Mount Stewart ridings." — Carried. Proposed by Cr Wilson, seconded by Cr Robinson, " That the following tenders be accepted :— F. Rinks, metalling on Swainson's line, £1 9s lid ; W. F. Philips, for delivery of metal on Awahuri-Feilding road at 2s 2d per yard." — Carried. Proposed by Cr Taylor, seconded by Cr Hammond, " Tbat P. Regan's tender for delivering 1,300 yards of metal into tracks at Rowe's siding, and for metalling 120 chains on Hammond's road be accepted, and that Anderson and Co.'s tender for 400 yards of metal between Awaburi and the Rangitikei bridge, and Jno. Williams and Co. between Sanson ltosina 200 yards, and A. E. Bull's for 200 (yards on the ■Campbelltown-Long-burn road be accepted." — Carried. Proposed by Cr Ransom, seconded by Cr Taylor, " That tenders be called for 100 yards of metal for repairs to Banks' line, Canipbelltown riding, to be in by the next meeting of the Council." — Carried.
