«. Messrs Abraham and Williams report : — At Levin on Wednesday (here was a full number of sheep ; cattle in Bhort supply. The sheep were a useful class of two- tooths, and these made a read} sale at quotations. Cattle Bold readily at Paluierston yesterday, there was a rail tnnrket of both classes, the bulk of the entries were serviceable stock ; sheep fully maintain late rates. Though almost all the cattle changed hands prices may be quoted as boing a shade easier — however, there was a good demand for everything but the ox beef, which went backward. We quote. — Cattle — 3-year-old steers, L 4 18s to L 4 19s 6d ; 2£ to 8 years L4 los L 4 13s ; 2^- vear old steers, L 4 6s ; 2 year old steers, L 8 5s to LB l6s 6d ; yearling steers, L 2 Ids to L 8 lls ; choice and well bred 3 year old heifers, £6 lls 8d ; yearling heifers, L 3 3s ; pure bred bull calves, 1,2 12s 6d and L 4 4s ; fat cows, L4 l7s 6d to L 6 3s 6d ; forward do., L 4 10s ; milch cows, L 5 10s to L 5 17s 6d, and one (at L 7 2s 6n ; weaners, 325. Sheep— 2-tooth ewes, *9s Id ; 2-tooth wethers, 9s 2d to 9s 6d ; fat ewes, 8s 2d ; lighter sorts, 6s 9d to 7s 6d. Messrs Lowes and lorns report : —Our sale on Wednesday was well attended, the entries of Btock were not equal to requirements. Prices therefore for sound young sheep showed some improvement, old. and poor sheep were entirely neglected. Cattle were poorly represented by aged dairy cows and met with no demand. — Sheep brought the following prices. 4 tooth forward wethers, 9s 3d ; store wethers, 8s 2d ; a mixed lot 8s ; 2* tooth wethers not large, 7s; 2 tooth mixed ewes and wethers better conditioned 7s 7d. Cattle— Cows with calves at ioot, 96s ; store cows, 65s to 80s. Small pigs, 10a to 139. A number of horses were yarded. A few haoks and light harness sold at from £6 to £13. "■
