Captain Fair-child, of the Hiuemoa, who > is returning from a cruise to the Southern Islands, wired this morning from Nugget Point Lighthouse to the Marine Department as follows : — " Barque Spirit of the Dawn was wrecked on the Antipodes Islands on 4th September. The captain and four men were drowned. He tound eleven of the crew on the Island -in a desperate state. One man will have to be sent to hospital ; his toes have dropped oft through exposure and cold." The Hinemoa is on her way to Dunedin, and should reach there about three o'clock.
