Makino School Committee
At a special meeting of the above, held on Saturday, to arrange for the childrens' prises, there were present Messrs Fry (chairman), Sutherland, Mortenson, Apel, and Flavall. It was resolved, That two prizes in each class, amounting to eight classes, be given to the value of about _3 14s ; also, That two champion prizes be Riven, one for boys and one for girls, open to the whole school, amounting to about 28s ; also, That two prizes be given open to the children living beyond two miles from the school, in value to about 10s Resolved, That the balance of the money be spent in sweets, nuts, efc., to be given to the children on the day of the school closing for the Christmas holidays. This is a step token by the Committee to encourage a better attendance of the children. The funds were subscribed by the settlers of the district. All parents and friends are invited to attend on the 21st December, when the prizes will be distributed.
