Mr Snelson at Taonui
+ Mr Snelson addressed the electors at Taonui last night. About forty electors were present. Mr Walter L. Bailey was proposed to the chair, but that gentleman declined to accept the position unless Mr Snelson would state publicly that the firm of sawmillers of which Mr Bailey is a member, was not in any way referred to by Mr fc-'nelson in connection with the statement he had made to the effect that a sawmilier had, or was to have, special concessions in regard to a piece of bush land. This Mr Snelson agreed to do. and said that he did not refer to Messrs Bailey Bros., either directly or indirectly. Mr Bailey then took the chair. After Ins address he received a vote of thanks, Proposed by Captain Campbell and sec ondvd by Mrs Adams. In proposing the customary vote of thanks to the chair, Mr Snelson said he had known the fiita of which Mr Bailey was a member for nUny years, and he had not the slightest notion that anyone would connect their name with anything that was not perfectly upright and fair. r
