1 During the electoral contest for tho * Wanganui seat, Mr Carson has retired 1 from the editorial chair of tho Wanganui > Chronicle, It is said that Mr Carson is 1 almost certain to bo elected. * At Upper Taonui on Saturday, a vote ' of thanks and confidence in Mr Pirani waa carried unanimously, on the motion of Mr W. L. Bailey. . Mr Leary addressed the electors at [ Stoney Creek on Friday night, and was . accorded a vote of thanks. Mr G. M. Snelson addressed a meeting . of electors at Pohangina on Friday. A '. vote of thanks and confidence was carried unanimously. , Addresses will be made by various can- , didates to-night as follows :— -Mr Lath- . bridge will speak at Bulls in tbe Town Hall ; Mr Stevens at Birmingham, in the Town Hall ; Mr Snelson at Longburn, in , the Schoolhouse ; and Mr Pirani at > Awahuri, in the Schoolhouse, at 7 o'clock 1 sharp. Mr Pirani will speak for an hour . and a quarter at Awahuri, and then pro- \ ceed to Kairanga, addressing the electors > there at 8.80 p.m.
