Prior to the service they paraded tbe streets bedded by a m.in carrying a cross to which was attached a figure smeared with paint. The cross J bore the words " murdered by the rich,'' { and " humanity crucified." The police seized the crucifix. At tbe Hall one of the unemployed offered up an objection- ' able prayer condemning the clergy, but . was prevented from proceeding by the singing of a hymn.
