Mr Scobie McKenzie before his Constituents

I Per Press Association. Dunedin, Norember 7. Mr Scobie McKenzie addressed the electors at Palmerston South last night, the hall being crowded to excess. He criticised the cries raised the last session on which the Government came into power, and said another phase was being attempted. The working men would come to find that the labour legislation of the Government meant nothing more nor less than the appoint' ment of Inspectors for the infliction of penalties and mischievous interference with individual liberty. The Government worked on much the same lines in politics as the spieler did in social life. While declaring they were a non-borrowing Government they seised the sinking fund, which would have paid off the 'guaranteed debentures if left alone, the state of the market for conversion being a secondary matter with them. They had increased the debt by over L 1.000,000. He referred to the Land for Settlement Bill, which be denounced; also the Noxious Weeds Bill. He declared himself a strong supporter of the education Bystem, and an opponent of all grants. Ministers should be responsible for the management of railways.
