Our sporting contributor " Sport" was fairly successful in his " tips " for the Melbourne Derby run last Saturday. His selections were— Pulvil, Carnage, Sailor Prince. The result was Carnage 1, Sailor Prince 2, Pounamu 3. He thus secured two placed horses. It is worthy of note that the whole of the leading Australian sporting writers but one omitted to mention Carnage's name, and that writer placed the horse's chanoes as fourth or fifth. His breeding is Nordenfeldt (by Musket) out of Mersey", while Carbine is by Musket out of Mersey To-morrow the Melbourne and New Zealand Cups are to be run.
