(PKB PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, October 26. During the 28 days ending 21st October at the Waihi gold mine there were 1356 tons treated, yielding L 1634 worth of bullion. At the Police Court Thos. Wade, an inmate of Costley Home, was brought up on the charge of attempted suicide. The Bench discharged him, and advised him to live down his troubles, Wellington, October 26. Captain Johnson, of the steamer Kanien, states while in Kaukia Bay for shcltor on Sunday, he learnt from the natives that a large quantity of wreckage marked *' Gowanburn " had been washed ashore some months ago, placing it beyond a doubt that the vessel had been lost. The Wakatipu, which arrived from Sydney I his afternoon brought 113 passengers for the ports, 74 of the number being for Wellington, She also had an English mail on board. The appointments of Henry William North croft to be R.M. for district of Auckland, and of Harry E.yre Kenny to be R.M. and Warden for the district of Hauruki, both with extending jurisdiction up to LIOO, are gazetted.
