The Boating Fatality at Auckland
{PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.} Auckland, October 20. The lamentable boating disaster occurred in the upper part of the Waitetnata, resulting in the drowning of five persons, three of whom were women. The party were Mrs Ann Bailiie, her daughter and son, James Bailiie, and a friend named Mrs Herd, belonging to Renmera. They left Hobsonville for Whau Creek in a boat, a strong breeze blowing at the time. The boat, it is said, capsized. Mrs Baillie's other son, John, went to the rescue, but disappeared, and it is believed he also was drowned. The bodies have not yet been recovered. The boat was found bottom upwards. Mrs Herd was a friend of the family on a visit to Hobsonvillo. This Day. The body of one of the victims of the Whau boating accident was recovered last evening by the water police between Hob* sonville and the mouth of the creek, and was identified as that of John Bailiie who went in a dingey to tbe rescue of those in the boat. The dingey was wholly unfit to #ye in the sea.
