The Coming Elections
(PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, October 5. Mr C. B. Izard has withdrawn his candidature for the Otaki seat, on account of hi 6 state of health. Mr Tregear has refused the request of the Trades Council to stand for Wellington. A novelty in electioneering is the formation of a Committee of 13 Maori women to work portions of the Hutt in the interests of one of the candidates. The llegistrar received 1600 more claims to vote to-day, making 4500 in all, of whom three-fourths are women. Mr C. Buchanan announces himself for Wairarapa. Auckland, October 5. The Auckland City main roll closed to* day. It is estimated there are 10,000 names on it. Mr Worth, president of the Trades and Labor Council, it is stated, will probably stand for the city. Dunedin. October 5The Women's Franchise League and the Tailoresses' Union are annoyed that the Workers' Political Committee did not delay the selection of a candidate till they were represented. Palmebston, October 5. About 800 women have registered, and up to now the roll contains over 4000 naui6s.
