The Manawatu Juniors returned home on Saturday night after a verj successful trip. The team played Taranaki and Wanganui, winning the first match by 9 points to nil and the latter by 19 to 2. In the Wanganui match on Saturday the home team pressed the visitors for the first quarter of an hour, and a try was registered against them, but for the remainder of the spell Manawatu held their own, Bethwaite scoring a try, which Hewitt converted. In the second spell the Manawatu men went to work with a will, and tries were scored by Isherwood, Hewitt, Lyons, Smith, and Aitken, Hewitt converting two of them into goals. The annual match between the Taranaki and Manawatu seniors was played at Hawera on Saturday, and resulted in a win for Taranaki by 16 to nil, 14 of which were scored in the first spell. The Mauawatu team was a very weak one, and the defeat did not come as a surprise. On Saturday next the Manawatu juniors will play the Bush Uniou juniors at Falmerston. Otago defeated Southland on Saturday by 9 points to 4.
