Meeting of Railway Employes.
[Per Press Association.] Dujjkdin, Thin Day. The meeting of the local branch of the Railway Servants Society on Saturday was attended by 160, mostly from the Hillside workshops. The following resolution was carried : — The meeting is strongly opposed to any special Insurance scheme for the Railway service, and is of opinion the desire of the Commissioners to see their employes insured can be 1 more satisfactorily met by passing an Act j regulating that every Railway omployt' ( shall, within six months after entry on | the books of the servieo as a permanent , employi"', insure in some one of Insur- j ant'O offices doing business in the Colony, j leaving it with tlio employt' to choose the ( office in which ho will insure. A second j resolution strongly condemning the j action of the railway men who took part j in the Wellington Conference was put and declared carried by the Chairman, but : many of those present assert the voices of the desseuters who were in tho majority were not taken.
