Discovery of a Burglar's Plant
. — _*. . (pee fbkss association.) Wellington, September 12. The police to-day arrested two young men, named Edward Cloke and W. Barton, on a charge of being connected with, several burglaries. The former has been under police superrision for some time and to-day the premises occupied by the accused, in Tinakon road, were subjected to a most minute search. Finally a " plant " was unearthed. Inside the lining of the chimney the police discovered an interesting collection representing the proceeds of fully a dozen robberies. Amongst others, those committed at the houses of Messrs J. P. Higginson, C. J. Pharazyn, L. Stowe, Williamson, Jamieson, Taft, Gayin, and the premises of the Thorndon Lawn Tennis Club. Sereral rings and articles of disguise were found among the property.
