ing and funning U»e i-eniral road from Bunnythorpe-Kairanga road as far as the Mangaone, a distance of about seven chains. The transfers of sections at bunnythorpe from Mr Bull to Messrs Dick and gangster were agreed to. With reference to Mr Reids complaint, the Chairman said the water which was flooding Mr Reid's land came from a drain cut on Mr Saunders property, and not from the drain on Cameron's line.— On the motion of the Chairman, it was resolved that Mr Reid be informed that any injury that may be done to his land is caused by the drain cut by Mr Saunders on his own property. Mr A. Morgan waited on the Board to enquire if thero was any prospect of his obtaining the lease of the gravel pit reserve at Bunnythorpe. Mr Ravenlull had informed him that the reserve had been vested in the Board. The engineer reported that the protective works at the Awahuri Bridge were completed, but owing to the continual high state of the river he had found it desirable to have another extra row of six single piles driven between the upper and lower sets where the river had a tendency to break over tho low bank. At the lower set of piles a new bank had formed leaving the piles now high and dry. There was still a wash over the low bank, but the piles now driven had a tendency to shoot the channel towards the centre of the bridge. The river would need to be watched while this continuous rain lasted. Extra brushwood and earth had also been placed at the old piles, as since the contract was signed a good deal of the old retaining behind the piles had washed away. The gravel reserve on Mr T. Kuigbt's property had been pegged otf.— Adopted. Mr Baker waited on the Board, and reported that a writ had been served upon him as solicitor for the Board at the instance of Mr D. Grant, claiming £950 damages. He had consulted Mr Gully with a view to defending the action :— The Board confirmed Mr Baker's action in consulting Mr Gully, and authorised him to take all steps necessary to defend the action, including the procuring of all the necessary evidence. The Board then went into Committee to consult Mr Baker with reference to Mr Grant's claim. In reference to the claim ot £<v, made by the Manawatu County Council in connection with the Campbelltown bridge inquiry, the Secretary was instructed to write to Mr Grant and ask if he had undertaken to pay the costs of the bridge commission. ~ After passing accounts the Board ad> journed to Thursday 21st September.— Times. ___— _— —
