A petition requesting the Governor to refuse his assent to the Electoral Bill is in circulation in Christchurch The Franchise Superintendent of the Woman's Christchnrch Temperance Union has forwarded a letter on behalf of the Executive Union to the Governor, urgiup reasons why he should not delay his assent to the Electorial Bill, stating that the assertion made by the protesting Councillors that the matter had not been considered by the country, is without foundation, and trusting the Governor will not allow the action taken by both Houses of Parliament in acceding to a petition of 31,000 women of the colony to be frustrated.
