Campbelltown Items.
[FBOM OUtt OWN CORRESPONDENT.] The measles are still prevailing here. The whole district seems full of sickness, and nearly every home has sick patients in it. Much necessary work has to be neglected through the complaint A strange coincidence is reported here. Mr H. Hunt, of the Sandon Small Farm Block (but late of Campbelltown), had the misfortune to lose two valuable horses during the rough gales a short time ago. The horses were standing on opposite sides of a wire fence together, when a dry white pine was blown down, right across the necks of both animals, killing them instantaneously. Much sympathy is extended to Mr Hunt for the great loss he has sustained. Mr H. P. Thompson informs me that he has recently lost four calves alternately, and ia at a loss to explain the reason of their deaths. He said that they were seized by & sort of tit, frothed at the mouth, and within five minutes from the time the symptoms began they died. Upon a post-mortem examination, nothing was found internally to account for death. An explanation by any of our readers, as to the strange phenomenon, would be very acceptable.
