On Saturday last the balance-sheet showed that the shareholders funds were L' 280,000; indebtedness to depositors L 513.000, other creditors L 95.000. Assets, present value of loan L«29,000 f offices L 32.000. Sydney, September 7. At a meeting of the creditors of Hi ley Brothers, drapers, the liabilities were stated at L 40,900, aud tho assets at L 15.400. Brisbane, Sept. 7. Mr Harton, Attorney-General of New South Wales, who has just returned from Vancouver, speaks highly of the prospects ot a trade between Canada and Australia. A trial shipment of canned beef and fruit sold readily at good prices.
