Primitive Methodist Meeting at Awahuri
(By our Campbelltown Correspondent.) Yesterday's meeting of the above connection at Awahuri, was a great success. A capital tea was partaken of in the Presbyterian Chnrch, Awahuri, (kindly lent for the occasion) which was done full justice to by a large number of friends. Mr J. Gould presided at the after meeting which was opened by the choir singing " Marching to Zion." The Rev. G. Clement next referred to the satisfactory character of tho work going on in the circuit. Mr N. Arnold was the next speaker. Mrs Clement contributed a solo, which was well rendered and applauded ; Mr J. Merrett followed with a recitation entitled " The Last Hymn," after which Mr J. Glover then referred to his conversion, and recommended the narrow path to those present. The Campbelltown choir sang " Happy Home," and Mr J. C. Thompson followed giving his interpretation of the meaning of the word Awahuri, which he illustrated in a happy manner in its bearing to Christianity. Mrs Clement gave a solo, and Mr Belfit delivered a short address. The choir then sang " Rescue the Perishing," and Mr Broadhurst delivered an amusing and instructive address. Mr Clement then gave some encouraging remarks to the young, and handed in his report on the past quarter's working which was very satisfactory. The last speaker was Mr Bennett, whose address was very impressive. Votes of thanks to Mr Bennett, the organist, the choir, singers, and the Chairman brought the meeting to a close.
