Salvation Army

Yesterday (all day) large congregations assembled in the Salvation Army Barracks, to hear the farewell addresses of Captain and Mrs Fleming, who have resided here, and had charge, of the Feilding Corps, for over six months. A number of friends showed their respect by coming from a long distance. The Captain took for bis parting text " Bepent ye from that which is wrong," and dealt exceedingly well with his subject. Mrs Fleming, who took for her text " Jesus wept over Jerusalem," handled her subject in a pleasing and interesting manner. Captain and Mrs Fleming spoke highly of the kind treatment which they had received from the inhabitants of Feilding, and, in returning thanks for the same, wished the Feilding people prosperity and happiness for the future. They hoped that they would also show their sympathy towards the incoming officers. At present no one knew who would be their successors, nor did they know where they were going to. Several others addressed the meeting, including Mr Neville, from Falmerston North, who spoke in high terms of Captain Fleming's zeal for this good work. Mrs Fleming regretted very much that, on account of illness, Bhe had not been able to get amongst the people as she would have done had circumstances permitted. During the service, Mr and Mrs' 11. Stubborntorn had their baby dedicated to God and the Salvation Army under the name of Herbert Lio Boi Stubbornton. A " farewell " trio was then sung by Mr Lucas and Mesdaines Watts and Douglas. It was announced that on Tuesday evening there will be a farewell tea at the barracks.
