THE BABYFARMING CASES. MAKIN TO BE HANGED. j (PKE PBEBB ASSOCIATION.) Sydnbt, August 2. The revenue for last month shows a deficiency of 1114,000. The Privy Council having decided against the points reserved for the defence in the case of the condemned man Makin, convicted of murder in connection with the numerous cases of baby -farming, the Executive decided that he shall pay the extreme penalty of the law on Monday week, the 15th inst. Tho Sydney Morning Herald thinks every Federalist will admit that New Zealand, by standing aside, instead of retarding will materially facilitate Federation. Melbourne, August 2. In the case against Milledge and Davies the point was raised, and is now being argued that the presentment by the Grand Jury was invalidated in consequence of an alien being among their number. Hobart, This Day. The opposition caucus deoided not to proceed with the notice of want of confidence, thereupon Mr Clarke, Ex-Attorney-General, moved a reduction of the expenditure as proposed by the Government and the imposition of new customs and probate duties. The Ministry accepted this as a direct vote of want of confidence.
