THE FARMERS' ALLIANCE SALE. The Farmers' Alliance report as follows on their Feilding sale yesterday. There were good entries of cattle and sheep, with a large attendance of buyers present. Biddings were slow, but except where reserves were high, nearly all lines changed hands .at better prices than recently. We would impress upon settlers the necessity of forwarding their entries earlier. Some breeding ewes were purchased by Mr Rees, of Greymouth. We quote -.—Cattle.— 2^ year steers, £4 7s ; 18-rnonths steers, £3 5s 6d ; milch cows, £S 19a to £6 2s 6d ; fat heifers, £5 5s to £5 15s ; weanere, 30s to 40s. Sheep. — ewes mixed, 7s 5d to 8s sd ; fat ewes, 7s 7d ; wethers, 9s to 10s ; shorn wether lambs, 6s 2d ; shorn ewe lambs, 6d. Messrs Freeman R. Jackson & Co. report as follows on their stock sale at Johnsonville : — The cattle entered for the sale were of good quality and fair weight. Prices were on a par with those of last sale. Beef made, for bullocks, 18s, and cows 16s per 1001 b. Sheep were well competed for. Best bullocks brought £8 to £9 ; lighter ones £G 12s 6d to £1 10s ; cows, £o 7s Gd to £6 2s Gd ; wethers, 13s to 15s 8d ; ewes, 10s Od to 12s lOd ; stores, 7s 4d to 9s ; porkers, 19s 6. No baconers came forward. Full entries of stock came forward at our Sandon sale last week, and Bulls on Tuesday. Trade was more brisk at both places, but prices were not much better. We quitted a good many pens at Sandon, and a large number of sheep at Bulls, and our quotations are : — Sandon. — Cattle : weaners, 26s to 30s ; store cows, £2 12s 6d ; milkers, i"5 to -£f> ss. Bulls. - Cattle : 3-year bullocks, £4. 5s ; 2-year steers, £3 6s ; store cows, i."?. Sandou.— Sheep : fat ewes, 10s 9d ; fat sheep, 10s to 10s 4d ; store wethers. 9s lid ; breeding ewes, 6s to 9s Id ; lambs 6s lOd. Bulls. — Sheep : fat wethers, 12s 4d ; store wethers, 9s 7d to 11s 3d; fat ewes, 9s 3d to 10s 6d ; Lincoln owes, 3 and 4-year old, lls 2d ; breeding ewes, various prices, from 4s 9d to 7s ; lambs, 6s Id. Porkers, los 6d.
