From Alfred Dick, asking if tho Board intend to cleau out tbo wutor tables and culvort3 on the Middle road. From J. H. Anderson, in reference to his deposit on the Northern lino. From the Manawatu Times, Btating that the Board bad not sent notice to withdraw thoir advertisement, and stating that tho Times would expect payment of tho account. From the Palmerston Hospital Board, re charitable aid requirements for the current year. Mr Marshall, chairman of the Rangitikei County Council, waited upon the Board with reference to the Vinegar Hill bridge. He stated that both bodies were unanimously of opinion that the bridge was a necessity, and the principal matter for the Boards to go into, would be the question of cost to be borne by both bodies. The Hon. Mr Seddon said he would subsidize a bridge over the river, but he would not bind himself to any particular site. The llangitikei County Council passed a similar resolution to one passed by the Kiwitea Board re the question of £ for £ subsidy, and had appointed a committee to meet the Kiwitea Board for discussing the matter. It was estimated that the cost of the bridge would be from LSOOO to L 5500, and there was no doubt the bridge would be of greater benefit to this side of the river than to their side. Mr Marshall was of opinion that the money should be borrowed under the "Loans to Local Bodies Act." Mr Seddon had stated that the Government would be largely guided by the desires of the Local Bodies as to the best site. Mr Iteid said, one and a half mile of road approach would require making at a cost of L6OO which should be included in the cost of the bridge, all the settlers in his ward were in favor of that outlay, and thought that a toll should be erected at the bridge. The toil would most probably not pay the amount of the interest, and the balance could be contributed by the local bodies interested in the a flair Mr Reid thought that the Manchester and Pohangina Boards should contribute towards the cost. Mr Marshall said he thought they should agreo to differ, and then a commission could be set up to enable fin amicable settlement to be arrived at. Mr Taylor said, at the very least, the Rangitikei County Council would have to pay one half the cost. The Kiwitea Board would appoint a committee to meet one from the Uangitikei County Council, to discuss details and plans for tho bridge. Messrs Northcote and Cunningham representing 4*2 ratepayers in the Waituna and Beaeonsfield districts, waited upon the Board, and asked that the petition from the settlers in the above districts praying that the ranger be instructed not to go in those places be given eftect to, as settlers in those parts were opposed to the actions of the ranger, and Mr Northcote instanced cases of over-charges made by Board's official. The Board promised to consider the request. Resolved, That in accordance with the " Impounding Act," 1884, clause 41, the public sales of stock shall be held every tiutunluy in cacb month mid that public notinoali^ns of this be given It was decided to leave it to the pcundkeeper to advertise in the Advocate in addition to the Stau should he deem it advisable. In the ballot for retiring members Messrs Williamson, Shannon, aud Morton were balloted out. [Left sitting. )
