CANTERBURY MARKETS.

(I'EB I'BESS ASSOCIATION.) Christchubch, March 15. The attendance at the Addingtou mar* ket was the largest for some months. There was a very large sale of sheep of all descriptions, and good business was done. Store sheep. — Very large entry, principally crossbred ; two tooth and sound mouthed crossbred ewes were in extra demand at from 12s 6d to 15s 6d, according to circumstances ; some 2-tooth Down cross ewes, sold at 12s 9d ; 4 tooth at 13s 4d- Fat lambs —About one thousand wore yarded. Buyers, for export, were to the front in securing them. Each lot sold readily from 12s 3d to 14s 7d; nearly all sold for export. Prime wethers sold freely up to 17s 9d ; in a few cases of extra good sheep this was exceeded. Lines of crossbred maideu ewes and wethers met with a ready sale from 14s 9d to 17s; second rate merino wethers were limited. Fat cattle— l2o head sold at prices which, owing to tHe large entry, were not so good as have prevailed recently. Steors sold up to £8 14s ; wellgrown heifers, £8 12s Od. Store onttle — The recent rains and growth of autumn feed gave a fillip to the sale; several linos of young stock sold at improved rates ; 2A- year-old steers brought I' 4ls to £4 17s 6d; 2 -year-old mixed, from £3 3s to £3 7s Gd ; yearhugs, 31s to 355 ; calves, 18*. Pigs.— Small entry, chiefly baconers, which sold at 35s to 52a 6d, equal to 4 id per lb.
