The Australian Floods
(PKB PBESS ASSOCIATION.) London, February 27. Owing to the second flood and the extent of the losses, the Queensland Flood Committee are appealing to the public for help. The Marquis of Ripon subscribed £IQ. Another instalment of £'1000 was cabled to Queensland to-day. March 1. Two thousand pounds more has been cabled for the Queensland Relief Fund. Bhisbane, February 28. A deplorable state of affairs is reported: from the Woogooroo Lunatic Asylum. As the outcome of the flood, the inmates had to be crowded in the upper parts of the building, and patients of all degrees of insanity were packed together like sardines. This Day. The Relief Fund has reached £30,000. Sydney-, March 1. Lord Jersey opened a monster fete in aid of the Queensland Belief Fund, nnd aftcrwnrds left for Brisbane, en route to Jitp.in and England. He was entliusias ticully greeted on bis way to the railway station.
