Sad Accident at Pahautanui
>♦ News conies from Pahautanui, of a sad accident which occurred at Moonshine on Saturday evening. It appears that a boy named Boy Greenwood, the six-year-old son of Mr Ephraim Greenwood, was ridicg on a truck load of timber with his father and a man named John Hooper, having started down the line about 6.15 p.m. from the mill. About a quarter of a mile from the mill and close to the tram hue, Mrs Greenwood, her children, and some friends had been having a picnic, and the truck was stopped to take up some cooking utensils. Immediately after starting: again a bridge had to be crossed, one of the stringers of which broke and turned over the truck. Mr Greenwood and Hooper were thrown clear of the truck, but the boy fell underDeath it, and a screw* jack had to be used before he was released. When finally the truck was removed it was found that the poor boy was quite dead, his chest being smashed in and his neck broken, Mr Greenwood is a sawmiller, living at Pahautanui.
