The Manchester Rifles were inspected and drilled on Thursday night by Sergt.Major Macmillan. Lieuts. Kirton and Bray in command. There was a very good muster when it is remembered that several of the members were suffering from the effects of the wetting they received when out in the ram storm the preceding day attending the funeral obsequies of the late Volunteer Green. la the course of the evening Lieut. Kirton read the Financial Statement of the receipts and expenditure of the corps during the past year. The following are the details.: — Receipts — Balance inJJank January 1, 1892. £65 9s 6d; 6th prize in volley firing, £4 10s 6d; capitation grant, £75 ; sale of ammunition, £18 18s. Total, £158 18s. Expenditure, advertising and printing, £5 r ßs 6d ; petty r caah,,3os ; cheque book, 2s 6d ; entertaining visiting corps, £6 11s 3d ; uniforms, etc, £110 13s 6d ; insurance, £1 ; legal expenses, 31s 6d ; ammunition, £14 3s ltid ; stationery, £1 2s 3d ; freight and cartage, £2 10s 6d ; brake to Palmerston, £2; crape, 8s; balance in bank £11 16s 2d. Total £158 18s Id. On the motion of Lieut. Bray, seconded by Sergt. Petherick, the balance sheet was adopted. The following members of the Finance Committee were elected : Sergls, Petherick and F. Saywell, and Corporal G. H. Saywell. Shooting Committee: Sergts. Petherick, F. Say well, and Gould, Corporals, G. H. Saywell and Aitken, Vols. T. Evans, Scott, Robinson, Stevens, and Parker. The officers are ex-officio members of both committees. It was decided that any member of the shooting committed who failed to attend three meetings in succession should be struck off the list, and another member of the corps elected in his stead by the committee. In conse* quence of the resignation of Sefgt. Kitchen, Corpl. Gould was appointed actingsergeant. It was announced that there would in future be two shooting teams in the corps, a senior and a junior. The parade was then dismissed. The date of the parades for February are published to-day.
