St. .Petersburg, January 24 Tho Russian press protests against the intimidation of Egypt, aud urges the (xoveratneut to demand the date when Englaud will release Egypt from tutelage, London, January 21. The Cabiuet discussed the Egyptian question to-day for four hours. Despatches from Cairo are of an alarming nature, and represent the natives as insulting European women. The English press supports Lord Rosebery's action with regard to Egypt. Two of the Battalions will be reinforced to stop at Alexandria. The second South Lancashire regiment has been ordered to Egypt from Malta and the First Black Watch from Gibraltar. The Sultan has congratulated the Khedive on his attitude during the recent crisis. The Secretary of War has wired to Malta and Cyprus to intercept troops returning from India, and received a reply to the effect that contingents would be able to land at Port Said within sixty hours of receipt of orders. Lord Croraer has informed the Khedive . thai the increase in the garrisons is necessary as a safeguard of European residents. The Marquis of Ripon left a sick bed in order to attend a special Cabinet meeting to consider important despatches from Egypt. It is officially announced that Government will reinforce the troops in Egypt in view of recent events. Caiko, January 24. The excitement in Cairo is spreadiug to the provinces. The Khedive assures the people that tho English will be de» feated. Paris, January 24. There is some excitement in Paris over the Egyptian crisis, and the Government is called on to protest against the British troops being reinforced.
