Land Sale at Palmerston
The sale of Messrs D. & W. Manson's properties was commenced yesterday afternoon at Messrs Abraham & Williams' auction rooms, Rangitikei street. There was a large attendance of gentleman from various parts of the Islands ; in fact the attendance was a " best-on-record " so far as land sales in this district are concerned. Colonel Gorton acted as auctioneer, and prior to the commencement of the sale, read over the conditions, which were of a somewhat lengthy character. Following are the results of the sale up to the time of going to press : — Manchester Estate. Section 51, 327 acres, passed in at £1 10s per acre. Section 50, 271 acres, passed in ; no bid. Section 50, 271 acres, passed in ; no bid. Section 24, 220 acres, sold to Mr H. Rutherford for £8 an acre. The remaining six sections were not offered. Edknkillik Park Estate. Section 1609, 76 acres, passed in at ill 10s an acre. Section 1551, 104 acres sold to Mr P. F. Fair at £'15 an acre. Section 448, containing 16 acres, was sold to Mr O. Carr at £16 an acre ; section 1569, 151 acres, was sold to Mr N. Pederson at £13 an acre ; part section 551, 25 acres was purchased by Mr S. Paul at £18 an acre ; part section 551, containing 56 acres, was sold to Messrs Abraham and Williams for £15 5s an acre. The Waituna property was passed in at the reserve price of £7 an acre, and the Manchester-Waituna estate was passed in at £5 15s an acre. — Manawatu Times.
