« (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) I Wellington, This Day, The weather is strong for the opening of the Rifle Association meeting. The entries number only 162 the lowest in the experience of the Association. The Council meet to-day, probably to reduce the prize money. The proposal to allow the Australians to fire in all matches was carried unanimously, and the entrance fe3 for the Teams match was reduced from £6 to £4. Members of the Victoria Rifles (Auckland) who fired in last year's teams match and failed to pay their subscription for that match have been disqualified until the amounts are paid. Gwing to the small entries the prize money was reduced by one third. At 10.30 the meeting opened with 200 yards of the Nelson match. The weather was rine, but there was a high wind. A.t noon the range was finished. The highest scorers were : — Head (Auckland) and Fraser (Dunedin) with 34 and 35. Newell (Taranaki), Fiyger (Wanganui), Aitchison (Kaitangata), Speedy (Tenui), Robinson (Riverton), Stitt (Wellington) each with 33.
