Verdict Against Prohibitionists

(PES PEESB ASSOCIATION.) Christchxjbch, December 19. The action for libel by H. S. Drumniond against the Rev L. M. Isitt, editor, and J. A. Fraser, printer of the Prohibitionist, resulted in judgment for £2 and costs against the Rev Mr Isitt, and one farthing, without costs, against Fraser. The article containing the libel reflected severely on Drummond on account of, it stated, his having promised a woman that he would not supply drink to her husband, who was shortly after seen leaving his hotel with a bottle of whisky. The article said that the wife taxed Drnmmond with supplying the liquor and he said it must have been supplied by his housekeeper or someone. The evidence showed that the woman nevec spoke to Drummond at all, but had mistaken his barman for himself. There will be a free distribution of Christmas Presents, differing in value according to the amount nt goods pur., chased at Te Aro House, Wellington.
