Palmerston Hospital Board

The first meeting of the newly elected Hospital Board was held yesterday. Present — Messrs Lethbridge, Taylor, Saxon, Snelson, Bavenhill, Ransom, Goodbehere, Purkiss. On the motion of Mr Lethbridge, Mr Park was voted to the chair. Mr Bavenhill said he took his seat under protest against the recent « election of representatives of the Oroua County at Feilding. The matter, he understood, was being enquired into, and more would be heard of it. Mr Snelson was elected Chairman on the casting vote of Mr Park. The voting was — for Mr Park, Messrs Lethbridge, Ransom, Goodbehere, and Purkiss ; for Mr Snelson, Messrs Bavenhill, Saxon, Taylor, and Snelson. Mr Snelson thanked the members for the honor conferred upon him, and regretted that the late Chairman, who had carried out th« duties so well last year, could not see his way to again accept the position. Mr Lethbridge thanked the Chairman for his kindly expression of opinion. Although he would have been pleased to have seen Mr Park in the chair, he would do all in his power to sifpport Mr Snelson , in the position.
