Wanganui Education Board
The usual monthly meeting of the Education Board was opened last night. Finance. — The Treasurer reported the condition of the accounts to be as follows : — Building account liabilities, X1 932 16s; cash to credit of account, £295 2s lOd ; grant not yet received, £565; total deficiency, £1071 13s 2d. General Account— Credit, £684 15s Id (this amount will be largely reduced next month, at the end of the quarter). The following business was done in Committee : — Hiwinui,— Mr W. Smith, of Alton, was appointed teacher. Oolyton.— Mr G, M. Taylor, of Wellington, was appointed teacher. Feilding. — Letters were read from the Committee re the proposed transfer of female assistant. Eeaolved " That the Board, having consulted the Inspector, are of opinion that the transfer will be for the benefit of the school." Ashurst— Letters were read from the Committee and from the teacher respecting the proposed removal of the pupil teacher. The matter was held over. Holidays.— lt was resolved that the Christmas holidays commence on 17th December, and that the schools resume duties on January 24tb, 1893. The Board then adjourned until 10 o'clock this morning.
